Dec 16, 2020 To computer not recognizing USB error in Windows, you must first determine the cause of the problem. Here are some solutions you can try out: The most first solution to fix the error, you can restart your PC and reconnect it to the PC. Click Backup computer files. Select the type of files you need to back up from the list and then click Next. It will take several minutes to locate all of the files, no matter where they are on the hard drive. Select the destination device (external USB hard drive or a USB flash drive/Memory Stick). Step 3: Does it show in Disk Management (Right click on Computer Manage Disk Management) - if it appears in Disk Management, just assign a drive letter. Right click on the cruzer drive - Drive letter - Add - choose a drive letter. Check if you can see the drive in my computer. Step 4: If none of USB ports work. A USB driver is a file that allows a hardware device (like your flash drive) to communicate with the operating system of a computer. If a driver is missing, out of date, or corrupted, your computer won't be able to 'talk' to your drive and may not be able to recognize it. You can use Device Manager to check the status of your USB driver.
